King-size life at the 5 star hotels in Pune

Some call it the ‘Pensioner’s Haven’. A few say that it’s the ‘East’s Oxford’. For the Maharashtrians, it is the cultural hub. These are the sobriquets that do not let Pune sidelined by its glamorous neighboring metro, Mumbai. But no matter what you call it, old-style Pune people are unfazed by the descriptions. But presently the city with its sizable influx of professionals and university students from all across India and overseas has earned yet another and trendy label- the Cyber City. Though essentially small-town in nature, it is just the right place for a laid back vacation without being too far flung from civilization. Consequently, the number of 5 star hotels in Pune has increased drastically with its status as a metro cum hill station.

Finding a suitable accommodation in Pune has now become a simple matter of browsing the Pune tourism sites or going through travel guides. Industrialization and IT have given a major shove to the hospitality industry and the result is a wide range of choices for travellers with budgets of all sizes. While deluxe hotels pamper guests with world class facilities like State of art gymnasium and spa, thrifty travellers are also not that hard off. It underlines Pune’s all embracing hospitable nature.
At this juncture in time, Pune appears to be two conurbations swung into one entity; it still has the temperament of its multi-hued ancient days, pooled with a novel urbaneness. Did you know that the base ball cap of Americans was inspired by the conventional Puneri Pagdi (headgear made by winding long piece of cloth)? But yes, the ‘forty winks’ at the afternoon is still a revered concept for most of the locals. Therefore shops are often off limits between 2 PM - 4 PM. Needless to repeat, Pune’s tourist sampling entails a something for everybody; so does its hotels.
